Roman and Williams Guild is part luxury home goods, restaurant, library and flower shop all in one gorgeous space. Located in an 1860’s building on in Soho that originally housed the oldest department store in America, this 7,000 square foot emporium encompasses furniture, lighting fixtures, linens, furs and artisans objects from around the world. Walking around the store with its wooden floorboards and painted brick walls you have more of a feeling of being in someone’s lived- in-loft except for the fact that everything is for sale. Roman and Williams Guild is the creation of design duo Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch, the husband and wife design team of some of the most beautiful spaces in New York. Among the many projects bearing their signature striking yet livable style are The Ace Hotel, The Standard Highline, the restaurants Le Coucou, The Dutch and Lafayette to name a few. The rear of the store is Le Mercerie, a Parisian cafe and bakery, with its glittering tin ceiling and plush velvet banquettes. This is where you head to enjoy cafe classics during the day and cocktails in the evening. Tucked into a corner next to the restaurant is a flower shop by Emily Thompson, whose architectural designs are scattered throughout the store. Plan to spend some time here as you may never want to leave!
