Through paintings, drawings, decorative art and vintage photos, Neue Galerie’s exhibition Klimt and the Women of Vienna’s Golden Age, 1900-1918 explores Viennese society and the changing role of women at the start of the 20th century. Of particular note is the focus on the paintings: Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I (1907) and Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer II (1912) displayed side by side for the first time in 10 years. Also prominent in the exhibition are Gustav Klimt’s most important society portraits for which he gained international prominence.
