Did you know that “Jingle Bells ” was originally a Thanksgiving song. Around 1850 James Lord Pierpont, was looking for something to play for the Thanksgiving program at his Boston church’s Sunday School. Inspired by the sleigh races in nearby Medford, Massachusetts, he penned “One horse Open Sleigh”. The song was so popular that the kids and adults asked for it to return at Christmas, where it has remained ever since.
